Jobs in the Cayman Islands: how hiring works
Looking for work in Cayman, or hiring? Here is how the job market works here, so you know where to look and what to expect.
Caymanians come first
By law, employers have to give Caymanians first consideration for every role. Every vacancy must be advertised on the government's WORC Jobs Portal, and the boards that approve work permits check that Caymanian applicants were considered.
If you are Caymanian, register at worc.ky so your applications are tracked.
Moving here for a job?
If you are not Caymanian you need a work permit, and it is your employer who applies for it, not you. In practice that means landing the job offer first.
Permits take time. See how long work permits really take in 2026.
